Letter dated 14Jul2014

Dear Family and Friends! This was a great week! Krisztina is doing a great job getting ready for her baptism. She has loved the Book of Mormon and has also shared it with several friends. She is so awesome! And Carl is progressing terrifically also. It makes me so happy to see the joy in others that we get when we understand and live the gospel. There's a scripture somewhere which compels us not to worry about things, rather to rely on the Lord who'll provide. An example this week was when Szilvia, who has helped us a lot to teach Carl and Krisztina, gave me a nice, new pair of Nikes that have now replaced my worn-out sneakers. They are really nice shoes, and right after I got them we had a soccer game with the young single adults. Even though when it comes to soccer a European to an American is like comparing a Midland Dow tennis player to another tennis player, I had lots of fun and even had some good shots with the new Nikes! After the soccer game, we talked with Hakeem (he is from Saudi Arabia, is in one of the pictures with me) and Oscar (a Swede in the other picture with me). Hakeem is Muslim, we are Mormon, and Oscar is Agnostic. It was a really interesting chat! It was funny as there could appear different coalitions amongst the four of us depending on the topic. So it was nice that with a companion, I was always with someone :) Hakeem said that Mormons are his favorite Christian religion (that made me really happy :D). It ended with the three of us inviting Oscar to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. That was neat! On Saturday we took our travel to the opposite end of Sweden (we went all the way to the eastern side of the southern tip) to fellowship and teach a great part-member family! It was really fun. The mom, Syster Kanold, is an antique buff. There's a picture of her eldest antique, which was antiqued in 1772 (older than Alaska). Hope mom gets a kick out of that. We did our stand in the town square again. This time sharing about family history. Rolf was the coolest man we met. He saw Äldste Downing's (who was my companion at the time) head, and realized it was the same shape as his head! They soon figured out they had similar national heritage and then Rolf declared they're brothers! He also gave us a book he was selling. Hope we see him next week! I love you all and hope you have a great week! Can't wait to hear from you (especially Nicholas and Christopher, if you're still alive). Love, -- Äldste Daniel Schindler
